The Region

Red Mountain AVA is located in the southeast corner of Washington state and is known as the state’s smallest wine region appellation.  The sandy loam soil of the region is high in calcium and alkaline with good air drainage and deeply rooted vines.  Area growers must irrigate due to minimal annual rainfall allowing better control of vine vigor and easement of vines into dormancy before winter. These rich and medium-bodied wines are complex with an elongated finish.

Red Mountain

With a complex mixture of rare, prized soils, Red Mountain vineyards are renowned for creating wines of superb quality and depth.  These wines express the region’s unique terroir with exceptional color and richness, while perfectly balancing fruit, tannin, and acidity.  Washington’s Red Mountain offers a rainbow of wildflowers, from shady forest floors to the highest alpine meadows. Experience the warmest grape growing region in Washington with wines from this critically acclaimed AVA.

Cabernet

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain emits a diverse, bouquet of aromas.  This wine displays rich, opulent fruit with notes of black cherry jam, currants, and soft clove along with light oak tannins.  Refined, fruity flavors and medium-body create a complex wine with a long, juicy finish.

Pairings

From sticky barbecued ribs to a delicate vegetable tart, these recipes pair nicely with this rich and opulent Cabernet Sauvignon.  If you’re looking for the ideal food pairing, you don’t have to look very far as almost any red meat, especially served rare, is an excellent choice.  Cabernet Sauvignon is also a good all-rounder for a cheeseboard, especially hard cheeses such as an aged cheddar or gouda.
