2018 Nobilis Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
The Willamette Valley is nestled between the Cascades and the Coast Range. While the region is increasing in acclaim, farming Pinot Noir in such a cool reach of the world is a challenge. Frosts can occur at anytime and daylight is limited throughout much of the year. These elegant wines are impressive and distinguished.
The Willamette Valley is a 150-mile long valley in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides. The valley contains numerous waterways including the Willamette River which flows the entire length of the area and continuously deposits highly fertile alluvial soils across its broad, flat plain. As a result, the Willamette Valley is best known for its agricultural accomplishments, which include a flourishing wine industry and surprisingly, Christmas trees. In fact, Oregon farmers harvests 4.7 million Christmas trees, by far the most of any state, making it the Christmas tree capital of the United States.
The 2018 Willamette Pinot Noir has a bright cherry aroma with slight chocolate and violet notes. The light bodied wine has mild oak tannins creating a very mellow red with low complexity and a pleasant light finish.
