2016 Chardonnay Russian River Valley
The Russian River Valley soils emerged from ancient, shallow seabeds in Sonoma, California. Cool marine conditions make for a long growing period while maintaining moderate acidity due to the eroded volcanic soils. This balance cultivates some the world’s most prestigious wines.
Russian River Valley
Russian River Valley appellation lies at the geographical heart of Sonoma County. Due to the AVA’s large size, numerous microclimates exist within its boundaries. The valley’s climate is heavily influenced by the Russian River and by cool coastal winds and fog entering the valley from the south. The vineyards here are strategically monitored by winged protectors such as falcons and hawks. These beautiful birds comb the vineyards for prey while gracefully flashing their wide wing spans in flight.
Rich, golden hue with aromas of ripe apples, orange blossom honey, subtle hints of lemon, and buttery oak. Lively acidity, silky mouthfeel and with a lengthy finish.
This Chardonnay pairs nicely with fresh, vibrant, and lively foods that sparkle with acidity. Baja fish tacos, roasted trout and creamy chicken and pasta are good matches for this buttery varietal. Looking for something simpler? Try a fresh ham or cheese-based salad along with poached salmon to pair with this silky Chardonnay.
